Big hole

It started with a small idea: Install a cockpit shower, fed by the pressurized water-system on the boat. The boat came with a shower installed in a locker in the back deck, but we rather shower in the cockpit, especially when other humans are around, land- or boat-based. For that we usually hang a camping type solar shower. We wanted to make this a bit more practical and also have access to warm water when the engine has run.

Getting parts to San Carlos is easy, it just takes a bit more time. We hesitated, to be really, really sure to have everything we needed:

  • 3" hole saw
  • 3" OD fiberglass tube to reinforce the area after cutting such a big hole
  • epoxy and filler
  • the shower assembly with cap
  • caulk
  • etc

3" hole,
sandwich core removed
Silvie making sure Epoxy stays where it should

Under the stainless cap is the shower head
with long hose to be pulled out
The under-deck plumbing is still to-do...
