After 75 miles of a fast sail (OK, some motoring behind the mountains of Dominica), with plenty sunlight left, we arrived in St Pierre, and had planned to check into Martinique here. But it was so rolly, we didn't dare to launch the dinghy, and the night was not very restful.

Next day, reconsidering our options, and knowing we would have a rental car to backtrack here, we headed to the big natural harbor of Fort de France. In this large bay we chose Anse Mitan, a slightly touristy town as our place to check into Martinique. It was Saturday, and past sunset a bunch of boats came to party and play loud music. OK, so again, not the place to be for us.

After some sleep that night, we sailed around the most SW point of Martinique, to then motor right into the wind for 10 miles, ending up in the lagoon of Le Marin, a yachting center par excellence. Masts everywhere.

Here we will stay for a while, exploring Martinique by car as well as re-stocking the boat with all the French goodies, wine, cheese, jambon...
