From our anchorage it was a two mile dinghy trip to the state pier, the only location we could find to leave a dinghy somewhere for free (max 2h they say).
From there, we visited "Hamilton Marine" one of the better marine superstores. We got lots of little things from our list, for example, a RACOR fuel filter vacuum gauge. With this we will be able to judge the condition of the filter by reading the vacuum pressure instead of just changing the filters by accumulated engine hours. We did get some dirty fuel in the Bahamas and needed to change filters more often than recommended. We also ordered a few parts and have to go back to Hamilton tomorrow after lunch.
We ripped our dodger, some 10 inches of a gap, not even along a seem. The material is getting old, we knew, we just hope to get a little more life out of this dodger and can repair this.
Lunch was in a good Indian Restaurant "Passage to India", don't miss out when you are in Portland, great service too!
