We had only lowered the dinghy for maybe 30 minutes, in preparation to see the bar on Ilot Maitre. When Dirk got in the dinghy, something was moving away from his feet, trying to hide behind the fuel tank.
The kraits are plentiful here, and this critter knew how to get into the dinghy. Until Silvie was ready with the camera, more than half of the krait was hiding behind the tank. With a quick fling it was back in the water. How Dirk's flip flop ended with the snake is a mystery.
A well earned beer was had at the bar of the DoubleTree hotel on Ilot Maitre. We are happy that some people spend many hundreds $$$ a night to sleep in an overwater bungalow, otherwise the infrastructure (restaurant, bar, etc) wouldn't exist.
