Prony Bay is famous for the red muck in most bays. Few beaches have nice sand as around Ilot Casy. The red muck stains everything, people recommend to have an extra set of old shoes and cloths, to be discarded later. It also is a reason to avoid anchoring, not to bring that red yuck on board with the anchor chain.

The light is also a range for three approaches (directions), with a second marker or light in each direction further below. We remember it well coming in at darkness thru Havanna Pass. Not sure we saw it 14 miles out as they claim on the chart.
While the hike up is sweaty, in very little wind, once up at the lighthouse the tradewinds cooled us well. We enjoyed this trail so much, we came back a second time, better prepared with a breakfast up the hill.
| This time we weren't alone in the bay |
The parc literature claims many of the plants to be endemic, adjusted to the less fertile ground over a layer of nickel, cadmium and other metals, ore.
