La Paz, arrival

Next day we left for La Paz. As soon as we got in cell phone range, we received an email about a package with some important documents had arrived in La Paz. We had that shipped to friends on SV Perspective in Marina Cortez. We let Marty (SV Perspective) know that we are a few hours out and that the package has arrived for him to pick up at the office.

As luck had it, the slip next to SV Perspective had opened that morning. When calling any of the 5 marinas in La Paz, they all responded with "we are booked out for months". While Marty was in the office, he asked of we can have the slip next to him. By committing to a two month stay, we were able to jump a long waiting list.

This will run up a bit of extra expenses, but will make final preparations for the long trip to French Polynesia much easier. Plus, Silvie is going to fly to Germany for 10 days from here, to see the moms before we set sail.

The anchorage in La Paz is usually very nice, and a secure dinghy dock is available. But every now and then a strong northerly wind blows for days, and when the tidal current runs against the wind, the dinghy ride gets seriously wet. We are happy as a clam to have snagged that slip in Marina Cortez.

Even just walking on the outer pontoon of the marina can get you wet.
