More whales

Banderas Bay is very deep except close to shore and a shelf by La Cruz (a reason to anchor here). Up to now we had to go by sailboat into the deep water to see the whales.

It is the boys who want to impress...

But now the whales are coming to us! Supposedly the mothers with their calves are coming into the shallow water to rest. So far the closest encounter was just outside of the anchored boats in 30ft of water. And they don't jump, just swim around calmly and talk to each other, which we can hear in the boat. Magical!

Update 14-Jan: A mom and baby swam right between the boats, maybe 150 meters from ours. Camera battery was empty! More luck next time..
