ffFjFFbtf

no not a covfefe...

ffFjFFbtf = fish (lost), fish (lost), Fish (in da bucket), jib (lost), Fish (in da bucket), Fish (in da bucket), bucket too full

We had lost our fishing rod to some thieving a-hole in the Chagres River. Not to be deterred, fish was on the menu, the crew was eager, and we had a few hand-reels, line and lures left.

Leaving the Las Perlas islands was smoother than expected. We did wait for the tide to lift us a foot, but by now we had figured out the safe exit from where we were anchored. Wind was light, we sheeted tight, all was good.

A while later we played Frogger in the traffic separation zone with big ships heading to or from the canal.

By lunch the promised wind was coming up, as well as the sea bottom around some islands. We got two hits on the lures but couldn't land them. Damn...

Third time is the charm and we got the first fish in the bucket.

Bonito #1
While occupied bleeding the fish into a bucket, suddenly the (new) jib came down, WTF? This jib has a shorter luff than the roller furling is made for, so we had used some Spectra flat ribbon material to cover the difference, and it had parted.

Blood, guts and gore to deal with on the back deck, and a jib partially in the water on the foredeck. Good to have crew :-)

About when things were secured, the next fish decided to keep us on the toes. John's Mackerel is probably the best eating of the bunch.

Cleaning the deck, contemplating about needing more fish, guess what, Mike got his fish too.
