You can see the missing bottom paint around the waterline, the Sargasso weed, plus regular scrubbing caused this. It is ablative bottom paint, so is supposed to come off slowly with friction. We always add additional layers of paint around the waterline and leading edges, but obviously not enough. The anti-fouling also has become pretty ineffective, it is time for new.
Every haul out one is anxious about possible other defects found when hauled out (rudder, rudder bearings, shaft, prop, shaft bearing, keel joints...). Besides a few dings and scratches, nothing bad this time. We should be back in the water in a week, or maybe a few days later because of the holidays.
