Off to see the Jumentos Cays and Ragged Island Chain

An easy motor-sail from George Town to Thompson Bay Long Island showed the new autopilot works, at least in benign conditions. It still has to prove itself in rougher conditions.

Here we are staging to sail thru the Comer 'Channel', which is just a somewhat deeper indention in the flat sandy area South of Great Exuma Island. A ~10 mile stretch is shallow enough that we need at least 1/2 tide to get thru.

From there we will point South to the Jumentos Cays and Ragged Island. A cruising guide says the following:

The Jumetos Cays & Ragged Islands are a largely undeveloped string of cays stretching in an arc South of Great Exuma Island. They offer essentially no facilities for cruisers. The cruiser who visits must be prepared for an independent cruise. They do offer rugged beauty, uncrowded anchorages, beautiful beaches, and many opportunities for hiking, fishing and snorkeling. There is almost no protection from W quadrant weather. Cruisers should plan to visit only in a period of extended settled weather.

Oh....we won't have any internet for a while, but we can post updates via short wave radio / Pactor modem, text only.
