3 days later, we made 470 miles so far. The trip started out with blue skies, but then the weather turned rather crappy: 20-25 knots of sustained wind on the beam, large waves which sometimes sprayed us with saltwater, on and off rain, the rinse cycle. The explanation for this weather came two days too late from the weather forecasters in Australia and Mauritius: A shallow low had developed just north of us, creating a large area of disturbed weather. We slowed down the boat, and with shorter watches and good food we kept the spirits up. Pre-cooking nice meals paid off.
We seem to be out of this mess now, seas and wind are normalizing, we have blue sky, everything is better when the sun is shining. Even the tall, blue mountains and their white caps look pretty now.
Luna arrived safely in Rodrigues, we should be there in 10-11 days, 1540 miles to go.
