Rodrigues

We arrived early in the morning and we could hear the MS Mauritius Trochetia call the Rodrigues Coastguard. The Coastguard had notified the anchored sailboats to leave harbor so the ship can turn and come to the dock. There was some confusion, the ship came faster than some sailboats could clear the harbor through the narrow channel. All went well, the ship docked with the help of the tug boat and all six sailboats re-anchored.

To clear in, we had to come alongside the orange tug, there was no more space at the dock. Clearing was done by officials from Health (how many people died this trip..?), Coastguard, Customs and Immigration. Lots of forms to be filled, we counted 10 forms just for Customs. It was all friendly, just took a bit of time. Then we anchored in between the other six sailboats.

Mauritius Trochetia carries containers as well as passengers, between Mauritius, Rodrigues, Reunion, Madagascar. The unloading and loading of containers lasted until midnight and the ship left early next morning.
