We made it across the sand bar

We took the dinghy and the extensible boat hook and tried to find the deepest spots across the sandbar. We found 7 - 8 ft of water by dividing the distance between R2 and G3 at a 2/3 and 1/3 ratio, favoring the green side, then later the red side. So we took the sail boat, ran that course and never saw less than 7.8ft.

We anchored a little further up the St Lucie River. We took the dinghy and explored the area and the dock where the boat will be in for the next two months, looks good.

Then we went to town, (Stuart = cute, actually, pretty nice), and called it a day.

Tomorrow we will get a rental car, drive up to St Augustine, get our car, bring it back to Stuart. Why? Because, even in the US, the rental car stations close early on the 31st and aren't open on New Years Day. We want the flexibility to leave Stuart on the 1st since the weather on Sunday looks iffy for the northern part of the nation.
